This program and the batch files mentioned in this document are included in the NHDOT MicroStation workspace download file. The conversion is done by running a program called las2las. MicroStation Connect and OpenRoads Designer can read these files directly.

If using the Connecticut River Watershed (2015) or Umbagog (2017) files with v8i software (the SS4 or SS10 versions of MicroStation or InRoads), be aware that they need to be converted to a format that MicroStation can interpret. Connecticut River Watershed (2015) & Umbagog (2017) If you selected files from either of thesedatasets, follow the appropriate instructions before proceeding on to Creating an OpenRoads Terrain from LiDAR LAS Files. There are two sets of data whichrequire additional steps before they can beprocessed into Point Clouds and Terrain Models, the Connecticut RiverWatershed and Merrimack River Watershed files. Then Extract the files from this zipped file. This file extension should be changed to a ".zip" extension before attempting to Extract from it. The files will likely arrive compressed (zipped) and appended with a".zip64" file extension.

In Windows 10 this file is placed in the Download Folder. An email will be sent in a few minutes to this address with a link to download the LiDAR data files. If the file count seems accurate, then click the Green Button toget a prompt for an email address to receive the requested data. Once a filter has been selected, a Green Button (shown below) will appear to the right of the state map that indicates the number of files meeting the selection criteria. You will be prompted to click and drag a rectangle to define this area. Use the Custom Selection Button to specify an area of interest.

There are Filter options above the state map to select the specific files ofinterest. Views can be modified based on thesefeature classifications. These"classified" files have been post-processed to indicate whether points arebuildings, water, vegetation, etc. Any area that shows as covered may have multiple files to choose from.įor files that are available for the desired area, the best results areachieved by choosing the Classified LAS version for the selected year(see image to the right). Zoom in to the region of interest to see what may be available. This site displays a map of our state with shaded areas indicating where LiDAR coverage is available.
